Conn Transitional Alto Saxophone from 1931 (246xxx) in satin silver finish. These transitional saxophones were made during a period of evolution between the New Wonder II models and the 6M "Artist" series. They share some features of the Artist series (double socket neck, underslong octave mechanism, left hand bell keys) and some of the features of the New Wonder II (fork Eb trill mechanism). This one has a beautiful art deco engraving on the bell.
These "transitional" instruments have a reputation for being some of the best instruments produced by Conn. This one plays wonderfully with mostly newer pads.
(a tremendous amount of discussion on these instruments can be found here: https://www.stohrermusic.com/2012/10/conn-transitional-6m-saxophones-the-finer-points/)
