ARB Metal Alto Mouthpiece

ARB metal mouthpieces are designed after the original Arnold Brilhart "Level Air" pieces of the 60's.  They have a very small bit area and drop off baffle which give them good edge and projection and bright sound.

Cap and ligature are included.

These are difficult to get, but worth the money if you need to "cut through" the band you are playing with.

(Special order item and normal turn around time for one of these is 6 to 8 weeks from the manufacturer.)

Bob Carpenter Student Tenor Mouthpiece #7 - NEW with Bob Carpenter Reface!!

This is a plastic student tenor mouthpiece being made by reknowned mouthpiece refacer, Bob Carpenter.  Bob has done a lot of work for us and his work is very good.  This piece is made from an inexpensive plastic blank, but Bob has expertly refaced it and it plays wonderfully, although with a brigher sound quality that you would expect from a plastic mouthpiece.  It responds well top to bottom and plays very evenly.

The #7 tip (.100") will be a little more challenging for a much younger player, but a player who has been playing for a couple of years and wants to get a bigger sound for not much money will love this mouthpiece.

Cap and ligature not included.

(The white you see on the bite areas is not a bite plate, just white tape across the bite area.)

Brancher Metal Tenor Mouthpiece

Brilhart Vintage Tonalin 'Streamline' Tenor Mouthpiece #4*, Serial #34,064

Good condition, vintage Brilhart, serial number 34,064 in a #4* Facing. Tip and rails are good, but the bite plate has worn down a little, though not through to the mouthpiece material.   This one has a noticeable crack in the shank, but it has been repaired even thouth you can still see the crack.

This is a fairly early vintage Brilhart and I rarely see the "Streamline" Tonalin pieces so it is somewhat rare to our shop.

No cap or ligature included.  Call or email if you think want this and we will find some ligatures that will fit.

Brilhart Vintage Tonalin Tenor Mouthpiece #3*, Serial #215,565

Very good condition, vintage Brilhart, Tonalin tenor serial number 215,565 in a #3* Facing. It's been played a little, but not much.   Bit plate has some minor tooth wear in one area and there is a crack beginning at the base of the table that has not gone through to the end of the shank.  This can be banded if you want to maintain the integrity of this mouthpiece for a very long time.

No cap or ligature included.  Call or email if you think you want this and we will find some ligatures that will fit.

Brilhart Vintage Tonalin Tenor Mouthpiece #5*, Serial #132,907

Excellent condition, vintage Brilhart, Tonalin tenor serial number 132,907 in a #5* Facing. This one looks like it hasn't been played much at all.   The only fault I can find is that the bite plate edges are just starting to come up a bit and the bite plate has minor tooth wear.

No cap or ligature included.  Call or email if you think want this and we will find some ligatures that will fit.

D. Noblet Wooden Oboe #1,6xx

Good condition, wooden D. Noblet Oboe.  We have this priced low since we don't do any work on oboes.  You will likely need to have this serviced to make it playable.  There is a crack in the bell joint, but it doesn't go all the way through.

You are purchasing this instrument "as is" so don't expect it to play when you get it.

Dukoff Metal Tenor Personal Model - Used

This is the "Personal" model metal tenor mouthpiece which they are no longer making.  The facing is unknown as the previous owner has cut off some of the shank that would have indicated the facing number.  I wonder if they did so wanting to play this with an alto since it is about the same length as a Dukoff alto mouthpiece.

The bite plate has some deep teeth grooves, but the tip and rails look good as you get on a Dukoff such as this.

No cap or ligature included.  We can recommend some ligatures if you need.

Forestone Hybrid Saxophone Reed - Soprano CLOSEOUT ITEM!!!

MATERIAL

The Forestone material is a mixture of polypropylene resin and cellulose wood fibre. More than 50 percent of the wood fiber used is bamboo. The material is brownish in colour, tasteless, odourless and non-toxic. The exceptional sound, resilience and flexibility of Forestone reeds is due mainly to this special material.

LONGEVITY

The useful life of a Forestone reed will vary from player to player given that everyone’s way of playing — his or her embouchure address — stresses the reed differently. Forestone reeds will far outlast good quality cane as the proprietary composite material is impervious to water-logging and breakdown by saliva, and will not warp due to changes in humidity or altitude. After a certain number of hours, however, the reeds will begin to feel less lively and responsive. The loss in vitality, be it subtle or more pronounced, would signal the time has come to retire the reed in favor of a newer one.

Price per reed.

GRAFTON VINTAGE PLASTIC ALTO #12,xxx, like Charlie Parker Played!!! - SUPER PRICE!!!

SUPER PRICE!!

The Grafton Plastic alto is one of the most iconic vintage altos.  Most people know of it because of it's white plastic body and the fact that Charlie Parker played one when in England on a date in which they couldn't use his real name due to contract obligations in the US.

These are getting more rare and hard to find every day.  This is only the second one we have seen in our 23 years in business and I doubt we will see many, if any, more!

This one is serial number #12,xxx and it's in very good overall condition.  There is only a minor amount of plastic damage to key guard near the Low C key and the receiver and High F tone hole had some repair work done in that vicinity which is making the High F not seal right now, but I am sure we can get it to work well.

All original pads, corks and felts with original resonators in the pads as well!  These play great when they are up and running.

I expect this horn will be worth twice what we are asking in about 5 to 10 years.  I would leave it as is and just put it away until a rainy day or, if you like, we will do our best to get it playing well before you receive it.

Don't miss this if you are a serious horn collector!!!

This one is in very good condition with original lacquer and good pads.  We will include the Sax Alley  $120 "Complete Adjustment" for the new owner before it goes out the door so it will play the best it can.

Johnston-Selmer New York, Model 36 Hard Rubber Tenor Mouthpiece, 'Original' Facing - Used / Vintage

The Johnston-Selmer, New York, Model 36 was made in 1936 for Merle Johnston, one of the top studio players in New York at the time.  He taught a number of great players including Joe Allard.

The "Original" facing is the one Merle himself used on tenor and it should measure, according to the standards of the time, .075" in the tip.  This piece is very "sculpted" out, like an Otto Link and has a beautiful, warm sound quality.

Good condition, but used with no indication of any refacing work every done to it.  Slight line dent in the tip.  Great sounding vintage piece of musical history!!

Here's some information found on the web about Merle Johnston:

http://www.network54.com/Forum/27140/message/1305997261/Merle+Johnston+Redux.

No cap or ligature included.  We can recommend something that will fit if you want this mouthpiece.
