Forestone Hinoki Hybrid Saxophone Reed - Alto

The new Forestone "Hinoki" reed has just come on the market and it THE BEST hybrid-synthetic reed any of us at Sax Alley have ever played!!  You can use this for classical saxophone and although it isn't quite as good as a GOOD cane reed, it is VERY close and plays better than many cane reeds.

Strength is comparable to about one half strength less than a Vandoren Traditional (Blue Box) reed.

This is a fantastic sythetic, far better than any other synthetic we have tried!!!!

Price per reed.

Here's what Steve Neff said about the Hinoki reeds in a review he did on this product:

http://www.neffmusic.com/blog/2015/12/forestone-hinoki-synthetic-reeds-review/

(One of our valued customers has noted that he received even better response from this reed when he sanded the back side to make the back more flat.)

Forestone Hybrid Premium Cut Reed for Bb Clarinet

Forestone Premium Cut!

The Forestone Premium Cut is an advanced model of the current Forestone Bb Clarinet reeds. The Premium Cut is made with an advanced manufacturing process, are G-Tuned and the profile is designed for a full range professional usage.

Forestone Premium Cut reeds for B-flat clarinet come in seven strengths: F2, F2½, F3, F3½, F4, F4½, and F5.

FABRICATION

Forestone reeds are made by proprietary injection molding developed in Japan.  This results in reeds with optimally smooth vamps that are exceptional uniform and consistent, reed to reed.

LONGEVITY

The useful life of a Forestone reed will vary from player to player given that everyone’s way of playing — his or her embouchure address — stresses the reed differently. Forestone reeds will far outlast good quality cane as the proprietary composite material is impervious to water-logging and breakdown by saliva, and will not warp due to changes in humidity or altitude. After a certain number of hours, however, the reeds will begin to feel less lively and responsive. The loss in vitality, be it subtle or more pronounced, would signal the time has come to retire the reed in favor of a newer one.

Price per reed.  (#2.5, #3, #3.5 and #4 are regularly in stock.  Other strengths are special order items.)

Forestone Hybrid Saxophone Reed - Bari

MATERIAL

The Forestone material is a mixture of polypropylene resin and cellulose wood fibre. More than 50 percent of the wood fiber used is bamboo. The material is brownish in colour, tasteless, odourless and non-toxic. The exceptional sound, resilience and flexibility of Forestone reeds is due mainly to this special material.

Francois Louis Classique Reeds - Alto

The “Classique” reed for alto sax was developed through the experience of Francois Louis as a saxophonist combined with the advice of many classical musicians, who have tried prototypes and confirmed his selections in the creation of this reed.

These play about one half strength harder than the "Excellence" reed and is similar in strenght to a Vandoren Traditional (Blue Box). (Alto "Classique" #3 plays more like #3.5 "Excellence".) Everyone that has purchased these has commented that NEARLY EVERY REED played out of the box!  I use them myselft and love them! That makes your price per reed lower than other brands which usually have only 2 or 3 reeds playing well out of the box. These are the best playing reeds I have come across in the last 10 or 15 years!

The Classique Reeds are available for alto saxophone and for clarinet, in strengths from 2 - 5. Check the reed strength chart to see how they compare to your current reed.

French File Cut.  Price per box of 10.

Francois Louis Classique Reeds - Bb Clarinet

Francois couldn't leave the classical players behind and also developed a “Classique” reed for alto sax players and clarinet players. His experience as a saxophonist combined with the advice of many classical musicians, who have tried prototypes and confirmed his selections, helped breed this reed. Francois did not master the clarinet enough to achieve such a journey alone.

The constructive collaboration with the excellent Belgian clarinet player Fabrice Alleman was extremely precious. It is his patience and “live tests” that allowed Francois to confirm every microscopic modification of the cut on the sound produced and the ease of playing, thanks to Fabrice, Francois was able to create a reed in perfect balance with the “philosophy” of all his work.

Everyone that has purchased these has commented that NEARLY EVERY REED played right out of the box!  That makes your price per reed lower than other brands which usually have only 2 or 3 reeds playing well out of the box.  These are the best playing reeds I have come across in the last 10 to 15 years!
