The 66R (rolled tone holes) is Mauriat's most popular tenor. There are multiple finishes including the UL (un-lacquered), DK (Dark Lacquer), CL (Cognac Lacquer) and GL (Gold Lacquer). James Carter is playing and endorsing the UL model.
The sound quality is different depending on which model you choose. The UL is has the most volume and "presence" since no lacquer allows the brass to vibrate freely. The DK is the darkest and warmest as this finish is very heavy and dampens vibration. The CL and GL finishes are somewhere in the middle between the sound of the UL and the DK. All have imported Abalone key touches except for the unlacquered finish which has black pearl key touches and extra engraving on the body and neck.

(The UL model is also played and endorsed by a phenomenal young player, Ricky Sweum, lead tenor with the Air Force Band of the Pacific. Check out his web site at: http://www.rickysweum.com/).
The new Phil-Tone "Tribute" metal tenor mouthpiece works particularly well with this tenor. If you would like one added to your order click on the "Mouthpiece Option" button on the order form.
