Johnston-Selmer New York, Model 36 Hard Rubber Tenor Mouthpiece, 'Original' Facing - Used / Vintage

The Johnston-Selmer, New York, Model 36 was made in 1936 for Merle Johnston, one of the top studio players in New York at the time.  He taught a number of great players including Joe Allard.

The "Original" facing is the one Merle himself used on tenor and it should measure, according to the standards of the time, .075" in the tip.  This piece is very "sculpted" out, like an Otto Link and has a beautiful, warm sound quality.

Good condition, but used with no indication of any refacing work every done to it.  Slight line dent in the tip.  Great sounding vintage piece of musical history!!

Here's some information found on the web about Merle Johnston:

No cap or ligature included.  We can recommend something that will fit if you want this mouthpiece.
